Origins and Mission

The art of calligraphy, painting, and seal carving has a long and profound history,

carrying within it the unique philosophy and aesthetics of East Asian culture. It is not merely a display of skill, but a deep and tranquil dialogue between humanity and nature, between people and history.

The founding of our association stems from a sincere love for this artistic tradition and ashared belief: that tradition should not be confined to museums, but should beunderstood, experienced, and revitalized within contemporary life.

In an era where global cultures are increasingly intertwined and arts education leans

towards practicality, we seek to re-examine the ways in which calligraphy, painting, and

seal art are learned and shared from a broader perspective. We believe that true learning goes beyond the mere imitation of techniques — it is about spiritual insight and personal expression.

Therefore, our association is dedicated to fostering the continued growth and dynamic flow of these unique art forms across eras and borders through research, creation, education, and international exchange. We aim to create an open and welcoming space

where learners can return to the essence of art, touch the spirit, express freely, and givebirth to new ideas from tradition — rebuilding meaningful connections within the present moment.

Activities

We believe that the inheritance of art should not be limited to the imitation of techniques, but should inspire individual reflection and creative desire. Based on this philosophy, our association promotes its mission through the following diverse initiatives:

🟠 Public Exhibitions: Regularly organize exhibitions of calligraphy, painting, and seal carving works, encouraging dialogue and collaboration between different artistic schools and regions, and fostering the regeneration of traditional arts within contemporary contexts.

🟠 Public Seminars and Lectures: Offer workshops in calligraphy, painting, and seal

carving, as well as lectures on aesthetics and art history. These programs are open to the public and aim to deepen understanding of Eastern art and culture.

🟠 Cross-Cultural Exchange: Build partnerships with art organizations, universities, andcultural institutions both domestically and internationally, hosting art exchanges, collaborative exhibitions, and cultural visits to promote mutual understanding and the exchange of ideas.

🟠 Research and Publication: Plan and publish related art resources, academic

materials, and exhibition catalogs to support scholarly research and arts education.

🟠 Online Learning Platform: Develop remote learning programs and provide

educational resources to make the arts of Eastern calligraphy, painting, and seal

carving accessible to a wider audience.

We value independent thought and inner reflection in the learning process, advocating

for personal exploration and expression rooted in tradition. Through education, research, and shared experiences, we aim to build a cultural platform that transcends national and generational boundaries — enabling the enduring vitality of Eastern calligraphy, painting, and seal art to continue engaging in dialogue with the world.

Our Vision

We believe that the essence of art lies in the ability to truly see — to see nature, to see history, and ultimately, to see oneself. The beauty of calligraphy, painting, and seal art resides in their flowing lines, subtle rhythms, and meaningful spaces, offering a quiet and contemplative way to engage in introspection.

In an increasingly fast-paced and noisy world, we wish to use the gentle strokes of the

brush to express the breadth and depth of life. Amid the rapid transformations of modern society, we aspire to awaken a sensitivity to Eastern aesthetics and a capacity for inner reflection through the mediums of calligraphy, painting, and seal art.

We firmly believe that through continuous practice and sharing, this distinctive cultural lineage will leave a tender yet resolute resonance upon the global stage of culture.

Introducing our Board Members

Chairman: Taigo Yasukawa

From an early age, Taigo Yasukawa developed a deep interest in Chinese calligraphy,

continuously honing his skills through dedicated study and practice. He pursued amaster's degree in Chinese calligraphy at Xi’an Jiaotong University, where he spent four

years specializing in the art. During this time, he not only refined his technical abilities but

also delved into the philosophical and cultural dimensions behind Chinese calligraphy.

This formative overseas experience laid a solid artistic foundation and deepened his

appreciation and love for traditional calligraphic culture.

After returning to Japan, he dedicated himself to the promotion and dissemination of

Chinese calligraphy culture. In 2019, he established Gyoshindo Art School, in Fukuoka

City, aiming to provide more opportunities for local residents to engage with and

experience the arts of Chinese calligraphy and painting. Through organizing annual

exhibitions and art events, he has continuously worked to revitalize and develop the

traditional arts of Chinese calligraphy, painting, and seal carving.

Yasukawa firmly believes that Chinese calligraphy is not merely an artistic technique, but

a profound form of thought and a vessel for cultural continuity. His mission is not only to

pass down the skills of Chinese calligraphy but also to enable more people to experience

the unique charm and spiritual depth of Chinese culture through this timeless art form.

Vice Chairperson: Wenyi Cui

From a young age, Wenyi Cui has held a deep passion for the arts of calligraphy and

painting. In 2020, she came to Japan to further explore traditional arts in greater depth. In

2022, she began systematically studying calligraphy and painting at Gyoshindo Art

School, devoting herself to mastering the essence of traditional artistic expression.

In 2023, she successfully completed her master’s degree at the Graduate School of

Design, Kyushu University, further refining her artistic sensibility and professional

expertise. After graduation, she returned to Gyoshindo as an instructor, continuing to

hone her skills through both teaching and creative practice. In addition, she is currently

pursuing advanced studies through the correspondence program in oil painting at

Musashino Art University, continuously broadening her artistic perspective and

techniques.

Throughout her journey of learning and creation, Cui has actively experimented with a

variety of materials and techniques, constantly exploring the expressive potential of

different artistic forms. She firmly believes that the spirit of art is universal, transcending

mediums and formats. Through the activities of this association, she hopes not only to

promote and share the beauty of traditional arts, but also to create more opportunities for

artistic exchange and collaboration among creators.
